One of the major and most visited towns in Queensland, the Gold Coast is an attractive, hip, and laid back city offering a considerable number of activities that one can enjoy. Beautiful beaches, majestic views as well as world-class resorts and cafes can be discovered in the town. Population

The Gold Coast is the 6th biggest city of Australia. With a population of more than 751,000 and is visited by over 10.5 million foreign visitors every year continues to become Australia's number one holiday location. When to go to

The top seasons are during the middle of Nov to Jan, when visitors wish to spend the Xmas or New Year Holidays. The other popular travel periods are during Easter and the all though September and October when Australian youngsters enjoy school holidays. The city's cultural season is in full swing during the months of September to Jan when numerous holidays and events are held. Airlines, hostels and cafes are less expensive and less crowded in the off-peak seasons and there are some appealing events going on in this time of the year.

Where to Eat

Visitors to the Gold Coast will be impressed by the wide international flavours available, with restaurants found on every corner. The Gold Coast boasts of a mixture of cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants . The key location to eat and be seen is Tedder Avenue in Main Beach, where about thirty top restaurants and bars sit side by side on either side of the street. Surfers Paradise has more places to eat, but they're scattered across broader geography and there's no specific dining 'strip '. The Broadbeach CBD has a good range of fantastic dining options, but as you head further south the restaurants become fewer and further between.

What to See

The Gold Coast offers a good range of attractions - from golden beaches and resorts to theme parks. Theme parks such as Dreamworld, Sea World, and the Warner Brothers MovieWorld are just some family favourites. Other attractions that bring you closer to nature are O'Reilly's Vineyard, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and David Fleay's Wildlife Park.

However the other hand, if you are looking for a relaxing vacation and don't feel a bit like touring around, resorts like the Chevron Renaissance in Surfers Paradise give tourists the perfect solution for a relaxing summer holiday, with all the facilities of the resort coupled with the sandy beaches within walking distance.
