Ways To Choose The Scent For You

By Becky Wolfe

With so many perfumes that are out on the market right now, it could be difficult to find an appropriate scent for the occasion you're looking for. Look at the following tips that you might find of use when choosing a perfume for you.

1. Create A Fragrance Budget.

Some fragrances are more expensive than others because they are a designer brand, and some are extremely cheap. Deciding your budget beforehand will help you narrow down options and save time shopping.

2. Pick The Type Of Smell You Want.

Depending on the use of the perfume for you, you should decide on the scent that you want. Is it reserved for special occasions? Are you attempting to lure in a mate? Will you be wearing this scent as your everyday wear and tear? If you want to please someone, make sure you know what scents they like. If you want it to be an everyday smell for you, buy a lighter and less invasive scent. If you're shopping for a scent for a big party or event, pick a smell that makes a stronger impact and blends well with your body chemistry.

Be sure to factor in things such as the weather. Humid places are often complemented by a woody musk or a floral fragrance. If you plan on being near a lot of people, be sure not to go for an overpowering fragrance. Citrus smells are often fresh and great for someone who is always on the go. On a date, where you want to heighten romance, choose a scent that is stronger, but surely not overpowering. If you want to exude sophistication and eloquence, use an oriental spice. Security can be shown with an aromatic blend, exuding machismo.

3. Before You Buy, Inspect It Carefully.

Don't get too excited; pick a few that you like and check them out. Smelling 20 perfumes in a row will be pointless, as your nose can't handle that much scent. Spray the perfume on a card first to see if you like it before spritzing on your wrist. Move on to the next one if you don't like it right off the bat. If you like the scent on a card, you then should test it on your body. Test on the back of your arm or on your wrist. A saleslady, on occasion, might offer up her own skin to let you test it on. This is a bad idea because everyone's skin reacts differently. The only way to make sure the perfume is perfect for you, is to test it on you. Also, make sure you wait a few minutes because scents start to grow on you.
